Wednesday, May 26, 2010. Press Release CGCS-093.- The President of Mexico, Felipe Calderón Hinojosa, will be conducting an Official Visit to Canada at the invitation of Prime Minister Stephen Harper. The visit’s agenda seeks to promote trade relations and Canadian investments in Mexico, while continuing the political dialogue between the two countries. Together with the President’s recent State Visit to Washington, this trip will facilitate advancements in the North American agenda of competitiveness and cooperation based on co-responsibility. Official activities in the city of Ottawa will take place tomorrow, Thursday, May 27, with the Mexican leader holding meetings and a working lunch with Prime Minister Harper. The President will address Canadian Parliament and speak with legislators, meeting as well with Canada’s Governor General, Michaëlle Jean, and the Leader of the Opposition, Michael Ignatieff. President Calderón will also place a floral wreath upon the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the National War Memorial. In Toronto, Canada’s business and financial capital, President Calderón will participate in a business meeting organized by the Canadian International Council. On Friday, May 28 he will speak with the CEO’s of the main companies involved in promoting tourism between the two countries, senior level staff from firms with investments in Mexico, and with members of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives. During his final stop in the city of Montreal, Mexico’s Head of State will converse with the directors of Bombardier, a company with significant investments in Mexico in the aerospace industry, and hold working meetings with Quebec Premier Jean Charest to encourage cultural exchanges and promote the numerous and highly valuable cooperation projects that exist between Mexico and the Province of Quebec.
