IMMIGRATION REQUIREMENTS FOR CANADIANS WISHING TO TAKE UP STUDIES IN MEXICO
Bonafide students wishing to attend courses at any authorized
educational institution in Mexico, have to comply with the following
migratory requirements.
I.- For courses of one year or less, students must apply in
person for the FM3 at any Consulate of Mexico in Canada, and submit the
following documents:
1. Application form.
2. Valid passport.
3. Letter of acceptance from an authorized Mexican institution.
4. Documentary evidence of a minimum monthly income of $500.00 CAN, which
can be:
a) Letter from a bank attesting to the existence of an account from which
the student can withdraw the stipulated amount during his/her stay in
Mexico;or
b) Notarized affidavit granted by the parents, indicating their profession
or employment, and that a monthly remittance of no less than $500.00 CAN
will be sent to the student to cover for his/her expenses in Mexico.
5. In case of minors, written and notarized permission from both parents.
6. Two front photographs passport size (less than three months old).
Automatic machine pictures can not be accepted.
II.- Students joining programs for more than one year have to
submit the above mentioned documents plus six front and four profile
recently taken photographs (right side), passport size.
There are two types of documents for students attending schools in Mexico:
those required by the Mexican government to satisfy immigration requirements
and those needed by the school itself as set out by its own academic rules.
Students in Mexico cannot engage in any profitable or remunerative
activity nor seek or accept employment.
Assuming that all the documents are in order, you will receive your FM3 two
business days after submitting the application, free of charge.
