REQUIREMENTS FOR TEMPORARY WORK PERMITS IN MEXICO FOR COMMERCIAL PROJECTS INVOLVING: FILMING, VIDEO RECORDING, TAKING PHOTOS OR RADIO BROADCASTING

1. File the application in person at the Consulate's offices.

2. Application form.

3. Valid passport.

4. Permanent resident card (for non Canadians).

5. A letter from the Canadian company requesting the visa, explaining in detail the project, including the following information: duration of the trip, place or places to be visited in Mexico, professional activities to be performed by the applicant, name and address of' the Mexican company or institution to be contacted, and --if it is the case-- mentioning that the visitor's salaries and expenses will be paid by the sending company.

6. Letter from the Mexican company or institution explaining its participation in the project.

7. Two recent photographs, passport size.

8. Payment of applicable consular fee (FM3 permit). In some cases, for non Canadians, an additional visa fee is required.

IMPORTANT REMARKS:

• Temporary importation of equipment. The corresponding arrangements must be made directly by the interested party before the Mexican Customs (the authority with legal capacity to grant importation permits). To help on the above purpose, the Consulate --upon request of the interested party-- may stamp a list of the equipment to be temporarily imported (the list including models and serial numbers, as well as the name of the person responsible for the items).

• Additional permits. The documentation at the Consulate refers exclusively to migratory aspects. Location and other permits, if needed, must be obtained directly by the applicants or their partners/representatives from the corresponding authorities

• Processing time. The processing of the work permit (FM3) depends on a decision of the Mexican immigration authorities, and it might take up to 3-4 weeks.
